Many Americans feel that it is always best to grill steaks. Season the steak while waiting for your grill to heat. The secret to making the best steaks is how you will cook it. The steaks must be seasoned perfectly to fit your tastes. Below are steps on preparing the best grilled steak.
Step 1
- Select a nice cut of steak. Tenderloin or rib cuts are best. T-bone, rib eye, N.Y. Strip, porterhouse, filet mignon and Chateaubriand are excellent cuts you might want.
Step 2
- Steak must be out from the refrigerator about 90 minutes before grilling.
- Unpeel a clove of garlic and pound lightly to loose its juices then rub it on all sides of the steak.
- Coat the steak with fresh ground black pepper and salt.
- Squeeze a lemon or lime on steak and brush vegetable or corn oil on it to prevent the steak from sticking to the grill. It will help tenderize tougher steaks
Step 3
- A marinade will help less tender cuts like flanks. It improves the flavor and tenderizes the steak.
- Don’t marinate prime beef or aged choice beef. You will destroy the steak!
Step 4
- Preheat you gas grill on high for about 10 to 20 minutes. Play close attention so that you will not over cook your steak.
Step 5
- Grill the steak for 4 minutes. Make sure that the lid is closed. A great steak is possible on an extreme heat. So ensure your grill is on its highest setting as possible.
Step 6
Flip the steak with a spatula or tongs. Never use forks because you might poke holes in your steak and you will lose the juice of the steak.
Step 7
- Grill on high for 15 minutes again making sure that the lids are closed. Your steak will be cooked about medium rare if the steak is thick.
- A medium steak will be mostly gray in color and some pink in the middle. It feels rough like the flesh between the forefinger and the thumb of a straightened hand.
Step 8
- Take away the steak from grill if you think you observed the description of a medium steak in step 7 then immediately put on a warmed platter.
Step 9
- Before cutting, allow the steak to rest five minutes. This allows the juices and full flavors to develop.
Tips
Keep newly prepared marinade alongside the grill if you want to apply it to steak while cooking. Never use marinade that was used in raw meat. This might increase bad bacteria and destroys the taste of a good cut meat.
Teriyaki sauce could also be used while cooking.
