Rice has been in Asian culture for many years. This foreign delicacy not only can be served with Chinese food but also with, Korean, Japanese, and Mexican. Most of these cultures eat rice with every single meal and has been a part of their dinning for many years. Today you are going to learn how to cook basic rice that can be prepared by someone with any skill level of cooking.
First start by placing the rice into a strainer and rinse with water to remove any excess starch. Make sure that for every cup of rice to add 1 1/2 cups of water for the rinse. Obtain a medium pan and begin cooking on medium heat. Once the water starts to boil place the heat on medium low to prevent burning of the rice. Place a lid on the pot but have one side partially open to allow steam to vent. After awhile holes should start forming in the rice, now it is time to place the lid completely on the pan. Turn the heat to low and continue to cook. Let the pot simmer for another 15 minutes before taking off stove. Use a utensil to fluff rice and serve. A good tip is to use long grain rice for best results. If you want to spice up your rice try using scented rices instead of your typical white rice.
