During the summer season, ribs are one of the most popular meats that are either grilled or oven baked. Cooking the ribs in an oven would usually result to a more tender and moist meat as compared to grilling it. Juices are usually taken out of the meat during grilling making it tough and dry. Additionally, grilling would require good weather before you can cook them. That is why cooking ribs in an oven is always a better option. You will find in this article several tips and ways where you can achieve the perfect cooked ribs every time.
Choosing the right ribs from the supermarket is where you would start to achieve that perfectly cooked meat. Remember that most ribs contain more bone and fat so you may want to add on the pounds when purchasing them as compared to other meats.
Adding in the perfect seasoning would also add the flavors that you want in your meat. The choice of seasoning would usually depend on your preference. You can use basic seasonings like garlic, pepper, salt and meat tenderizer. You can also add other seasonings that would suit your taste. You can opt to use spices or herbs like paprika, rosemary, parsley, turmeric or oregano.
Marinating your ribs is also another way to enhance the flavor of the meat. Marinades are commercially available in the market. They come in different flavors and intensity of spices. Marinating also makes your ribs tender because it will absorb more juice thus preventing the meat from drying up during the cooking process. You can even get creative on your marinades by using salad dressings. Two of the most popular marinades for ribs are teriyaki and barbecue. Setting some time for the marinade to sip in to the meat is also advisable.
Once you have finished marinating or seasoning the ribs, you can now place them in a baking dish. You can use either a baking glass or pan. Try to make it a point that before you place the ribs, cover the pan with a heavy duty aluminum foil. The foil should be large enough to cover the entire meat later on. Leave some excess foil along the edges of the pan.
Once you have settled the meat and the foil in the pan, put some water that is about one fourth inch high. This will help in keeping your meat moist and prevent the pan and foil from scorching. Adding vegetables to cook alongside your meat is also a good idea.
You can then cover the ribs with the excess foil and create a tent-like cover. Make sure that the foil is a bit loose – enough so it would not press up against your meat while it is cooking. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F while you are covering the meat. Cook the ribs in the oven for about an hour. After one hour, open up the foil and flip the ribs and return them back in the foil and continue cooking it for around 15 minutes in 375 degrees F. Now, your ribs are ready. Happy Eating!
