Salmon is a delicious fish that is known for its rich taste and Omega 3’s. Not only does salmon look and taste good but it’s actually good for you too. The Omega 3’s inside Salmon keep your blood from excessively clotting and it could also prevent the growth of cancer cells. This dish can easily be cooked in your kitchen’s oven with ease in less than 20 minutes. It does not take much to cook the fish beside a baking dish and whatever flavors you want to improvise. Olive oil and a little lemon are great additions when spicing up the salmon.
Since you will be cooking in an oven you will need to preheat your oven before you begin the preparation stages. Preheat the oven between 350 and 370 degrees. Do not heat oven over 370 degrees because it will over cook your salmon. Obtain an oven safe cooking tray and line the bottom with aluminum foil to cook the fish on. When cooking make sure to always use aluminum foil to wrap your pans, this will help minimize clean up time.
There are several ways that salmon can be prepared by using various marinades, rubs, or glazes.
Like most marinades the meat should be stored overnight in either a store bought mix or a delicious combination of lemon juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, white wine, and ginger. If don’t want to take the time to make your own marinade make sure to check in your local market or stores for other types of marinades.
The second way to prepare the salmon is a real crowd pleaser. Rubs can be applied by patting down the salmon with seasonings and herbs like sea salt, paprika, or chili powder before placing in the oven.
The final way to prepare the fish is to glaze the fillet. The glaze always needs to be drizzled over the salmon before baking so it can absorb through the skin, giving it a rich and juicy taste. Another way to achieve a glaze is to take some sweet fruit like pineapple and baking it on top of the fish. The juices from the fruit will run and coat the fish during baking.
Place the fillet on the foil wrapped baking sheet and place in the oven. If you want to have a crisp piece of salmon make sure to place in the hottest spot in the oven, otherwise avoid it. Cook for roughly 10 to 12 minutes until the fillet is opaque completely. How long your fish will bake is decided on how thick you want it to be. The general rule of thumb is 10 minutes for every 1 inch of thickness.
Make sure that your fish is completely cooked. It should be medium-rare, tender on the inside and firm on the outside. Beware of over cooking; once the fillet is overcooked there is no hope for a fresh and succulent meal. To avoid overcooking remain next to your oven at all times with a timer in hand. Once the timer has gone off remove the salmon from the oven and allow fish to cool. If the fillet looks barely or almost done with a slight pink going throughout the inside then you have correctly timed things.
